Can the turquoise eyes lemur

Can the turquoise eyes lemur

Hello to all !

Today, a small series of photo of can the turquoise eyes lemur born at the zoo of Mulhouse in March 2013. This species is endemic to dry sub-tropical forests of the Sahamalaza peninsula, North of Madagascar, and became extremely rare as endangered. Since 1980, the zoo of Mulhouse committed to its conservation.

A challenge for the zoo

At birth, “Can” has been rejected by his mother. We raised it in incubators and fed to the bottle for a week, then we gradually introduced vegetables and fruit to its food“, explains Benoît Quintard, the veterinarian at the zoo, AFP. “It is rare that farms by hand for this type of animals are successful. This is a first !“, He welcomed.

Can not yet blew its first candle but is in great shape, as you can see on the pictures !
